Since My Last Post

Since my last post , I made home made tortillas.

I rolled these balls of love out.

I made the tortillas with these guys.
PC's Organic White Flour and Sunflower Oil . I also added baking soda and salt because the recipe said so !

And rolled them out and cooked them. They take like a minute!

Then I took my badly manicured fingers , shopping with some birthday money . I stopped at the tiny health food store in the mall and snagged these and an unpictured Mint Chocolate Clif Bar that I had never seen nor tried before.
It reminded me of a girl guide cookie but was WAY too minty and I love mint. The mint was so strong that my mouth felt as if I had brushed my teeth or used mouth wash for a long while afterwards. Not in the buy again pile.
I was seeking the covetted Kombucha tea in its bottled form that I have seen everywhere around the blogosphere, but while the cashier knew what I was talking about she said she wasn't sure if it was available here yet and may be a U.S thing still.
She did direct me towards this stuff though which I am willing to try instead of my usual plain green tea.
I grabbed the little drink packet thingys because they claim to have anti oxidents and full servings of fruit and vegetables.
I am crossing my fingers that they taste nothing like the grass like Vega bar.

Since my last post, I recieved this glass cake stand from my bf's parents for my birthday. I think she feared she'd lose one of hers , as I've been eyeing the one she has at the cottage AND the one she has at home.
Not that I make cake or even particularly like cake, but muffins , coookies and such would be pretty.

Since my last post, I bought shoes !

They are no where near as shiny and pleather looking in real life as they are in this picture. I promise. I blame the lack of sunshine in Canada.

More importantly though , I bought shoes that are flat AND actually fit my entire foot. I have such isssues with these trendy flat cute shoes. My feet are narrow and and the shoe always ends up rubbing and creating a death by shoe situation.

I thought I was doomed until I found ones that are kinda elastic-y and look like rumpled up slippers when not on a foot, but still have a hard bottom instead of ballet slipper style.

So yeah YEY!

Since my last post, I took photos of Guess handbags and was responsible and said no , you have 345223 handbags and bags in general . Be sensible.

Then I must have gone into a special kinda of coma and swiped my card because the next thing I knew this bag was on my couch.
*
Tonight I'm taking it easy in my weakened state and am making storebought tortellini and semi homemade sauce and salad for dinner.
Whats the last item that followed you home from the mall?

Random Eats

Woo. It's friday already . So here's some pics of random eats from this week.

Oats !! With glob of peanut butter and half of a delicious dark chocolate coconut kashi bar

I bought these eggs thinking they were new. Nope . Sneaky Nestle just stuck the foil wrapped eggs in a new package to trick people like me. I had the turtle one.

More Oats!! This time with 1/4 of a crumbled peanut butter crunch Clif bar and some peanut butter.

English muffins!! With some PC celeb , toasted :) Not as great as a crumpet but will do.

Popcorn !! Sprayed with some becel and salt . :D

That's all I've got . Have a great V-Day Weekend .

Best I Ever Had

This week is going by pretty fast for me. Although during the day when I'm trying to get stuff done , I feel like the minutes are hours.
My lecture ended early today so I got home early enough for breakfast.
I took these two ,

And turned it into this :

In the bowl :

Bob's Oats of course

Tbsp of Organic Peanut Butter

1/2 of a crumbled Peanut Crunch Clif Bar ( i had the other half with my coffee mid-lecture)

splash of water

Coupled with a glorious mug of green tea.
Ok so it's not so much glorious as it is a tea bag with some hot water. But it's warm!

I finally tried this bar on the weekend. I have to say it is my favorite bar EVER!!!!
Unfortunately it is 4 dollars a bar!! I said to bf when I bought it , watch this will be my fav because it's 4 dollars and look what happens. He really liked it too .
So banana-y and loads of whole nuts. So fresh and yummy. It really tasted like something a family member or bakery made.
LOVED IT!
I might even say it was the best I ever had. Also I might even say that I'd like to look at mr Drake all day long
BUt keeping on topic , I'd buy it again but not for a daily bar because of the price.
Bf's birthday is on Friday. Big 2-8 ! He's not thrilled about it but I doubt I would be either. Birthday plans ( as per the birthday boy's request) are dinner with his parents tomorrow , a day off for him on Friday and hightailing it to the cottage Friday afternoon after my class.
What's your most memorable birthday celebration ?
Best gift ever ?

Clif Bar Deprivation and Tropical Paradise

That right there is no ordinary stash of Clif Bars. That right there is the actual variety of Clif Bars that is available to me. Isn't that pitiful?

To be honest we actually have 3 more that I am not representing because I think they are vile. Maple nut something or other. Carrot Cake and oatmeal something .

This stuff . O M G . It is going to be the death of me . It is just so delicious. I haven't even thought of what to use it on because I have eaten it off a spoon more than once. I also made delicious hot chocolates last night with a spoonful shoved in . GO! RUN I SAY to superstore and get some . 2 /7 or 9.00 i can't recall which but so good. I can't even put it into words as you can see.

Oh superstore is there anything you can't do ?

While it does nothing for dry hands it smellls delicious and that's what really important. It reminds me a lot of this coconut lime body lotion I have. Anything that can take you away from the winter blahs to a tropical oasis for a moment or two is awesome

This is the closest I am going to get to an island oasis right now.

What about you ? Is it snowy or bikini worthy?

Friday 5: On my Christmas List

Hey :)
So yes,I'm been m.i.a on the blog this week but I have reasons!! Good reasons! I had tonnes of school work that kept me pretty much chained to my books and laptop most nights and the better part of the days and an exam today that I am so glad is over.

Goal Update:

I didn't drink alcohol all week . 6 days pretty much . I am enjoying a glass of Naked Grape's Chardonnay tonight though. In moderation. Meaning not more than 2 glasses.

Meals this week have shown a big improvement. A lot of big salads and steamed brocccoli and asparagus . A few apples but definitely not An Apple A Day, who's hosting an awesome and veggie-ful give-away.
Link
Have also resisted the urge for take-out and have been grabbing pre made to go salads from the grocery store on my way home from class for lunch. Tonight may be an exception though . Not a large one . Promise . Probably a turkey club sandwich and a dill pickle kinda exception.

I found some awesome new stuff to try at the grocery stores this week. Stacey's Pita Chips in Naked :O which I couldn't resist sampling and think they are A-MAZING! Review on this one to come. Clif's Builders Bar in Peanut Butter , have yet to try and some POMwonderful tea stuff .

Friday 5 : Things I'm Putting On My Christmas List

1/ This awesome book shelf from Umbra I love it I would be ecstatic if this was under my tree . So what if it only holds like ten books. It's quirky and cute.

2/ Oh my god .... I have no words for this one . But whoever makes this magically appear under my tree, well lets just say you are my new favorite. FOREVER! And I have no children so forever will be tough to accomplish once a cute cuddly child is here because I will have urges for them to be favorite but then I will make delicious pretty coffee out of this while i wake up with said child who is not the favorite, and I will remember your glorious gift. Oh keurig. I lust for you.

3/ This book by the man I watch peruse the same grocery store chain I shop at and then cook up awesome food. I love it because i can actually get those ingredients unlike other food shows that want me to get on my yacht and go into the jungle for a spice.

4/ I know what you're thinking the girl wants a bar for Christmas? WTF!? Well yes I do want this bar for Christmas or for anything really because I cannot find it anywhere in stores here and I A-DORE all things banana . Banana muffins , I attack them .Mmm.

5/ Lush's Sexbomb Bath Bomb. So yummy. I love them . Any excuse to stay in the bath for an excessive period of time is fine by me .

Now I'm off to take part in "exceptions" previously mentioned :)

Quick Food and Review

Hey :)

Just a quick review of a post for today as I'm swimming in school work and need to stop procrastinating online. I learned one thing today, tort law may be interesting but it's also a hell of a lot of reading .

While at the grocery store yesterday stocking up on loads of veggies ( big tubs of organic baby spinach for 3.00!!! ) and the like, I also stocked up on my curious obsession. Clif Bars!! I got the Carrot Cake , Peanut Toffee Buzz ,Choclate Chip Peanut Crunch and a repeat of the Chocolate Almond Fudge ( I already tried this one and loved it so much I got it again. My thoughts on it will be up in the near future.

I had to get up incredibly early for me for my new class schedule. 6;30 am . Compared to waking at my leisure and being in class for 1 pm , I now have to be there for 8 am . I downed most of a bottle of water and grabbed the clif bar and a travel mug of a new dark roast coffee I picked up yesterday. I had some International Delight toffee vanilla creamer in it as well.

I didn't end up digging into this bar until almost the end of class when my stomach was being very loud. I didn't really feel like something snacky . I kinda wanted a sandwich but I made due with what I had.

I have to be honest and say that I didn't have high hopes for this bar initially, packaged. I bought it because I wanted to really like the peanut crunch one but didn't and I love peanut or peanut butter flavored things , so i figured I 'd take the risk again but really didn't think it would be any better.

I only had about 2 large bites towards the end of my class , of this bar but I loved it !!

I thought the texture was fantastic and I really really liked the flavor . Did I mention I really like this particular flavor?

It will definitely go in my buy again pile.

Tonight's meal is in the process of being made. I took some boneless skinless chicken breasts and made a homemade mix resembling Shake and Bake which the bf loves , stuck a rack in a casserole dish and put it in the oven to bake. I 'm making a big salad of baby spinach, mixed greens, shredded carrots, shredded cheese, garlic and cheese croutons , bacon and hardboiled egg.
'Til tomorrow.

Question ( to no one , really ) : What flavors do you like and dislike food wise? I know so many people that can't stand anything mint but I love mint flavored chocolate.

A Chewy Review

Annnnd she's back. That first entry is always just a requisite. Not a real entry but has to happen none the less :)

So on to the good stuff. The food.

Yesterday after seeing nearly a sea of oatmeal bowls with crumbled Clif Bars and being probably, ohhhh the last person on this earth that has yet to succumb to any ( yes I know I'm very behind the times apparently I can however assure you that there are few chocolate bars I haven't tasted. But shh. Don't tell anyone ) of the many delicious and surprisingly helpful products, I took the jump.
I picked up this appearing little guy at the store yesterday.

I've never really been much of a bar person. In the past I've been of the calorie watching mindset and I guess I just felt like well I could have this little bar , or I could have this , this and this.My mindset has changed a lot and I am working on viewing what I eat more as fuel than focusing a lot on the eating in volume.

The bigger reason I've turned to bars is simpler though. TIME! I don't have time to go and sit down and eat something while I'm at school and we're really not supposed to eat in class. I can get away with taking random bites of something like this though , so I figured I'd give it a try.
Now I know every blog has a Clif Bar review or twelve so forgive me.

My first impression of this bar packaged was that it wasn't very big and if it wasn't small then it must be oddly shaped.I was half right.

Aside from the size the calories and protein stood out to me. I was almost alarmed that what appeared to be a granola bar ( I know. I told you I was new to "bars" ) had 250 calories. Again there's the mindset about the calories. I mean , in a calorie counting mindset I thought, that's almost a cheeseburger at Mcdonalds :O Not that I eat any of those . The protein however was impressive.

Unwrapped, I thought the bar looked a lot like formed raw oatmeal peanut butter cookie dough. I was surprised because I thought it would be more crispy , or crunchy, judging on the name. A couple bites in , I wrapped this one up and took it home for the bf.

I was really hoping to like it but it was just too chewy for me , texture wise. Taste wise it was delicious. My bf said it was " alright" and that he wished , his words not mine " that they would have used honey to make it chewy instead of whatever they used ."

Oh well. I've not completely given up on bars or even Clif Bars though. I bought the chocolate chip one today and the chocolate almond fudge one.

In other news , I'm off to see if the sweet potato I thought I spied in the fridge earlier , really does exist and read some blogs .
